Governance, for our academies and for the Trust, is robust, rigorous and proportionate, providing professional support and challenge so that leaders strive to the limit of what is possible with a sharp focus on outcomes and excellence.
Transforming Lives Educational Trust is a company limited by guarantee and a charitable trust. Responsibility for the academies that make up our Trust, and for the funds we receive, is entrusted to the Board of Trustees.
Much of the work of the Board is delegated to committees; in particular, there is a separate committee for each of the academies which works as an Academy Improvement Management (AIM) Board, often referred to as the Local Governing Board in schools.
The Trust greatly values and supports the work of local AIM Boards and recognises the significant contribution that excellent local governance can make towards raising standards. To assist this, the Trust provides support to local AIM Boards with governor recruitment, selection and training. It ensures that governors are well trained and supported by the central TLET team.
Local AIM Boards recommend their budgets for approval to the Trust. As well as providing a range of high-quality back-up services, the Trust also provides strategic oversight of financial control and strategy through the Board of Trustees’ Audit & Risk Committee and Operations & Standards Committee.
