Henry Hinde Admissions Consultation

As part of the process of bringing Henry Hinde Infants and Juniors onto one site, last year we wrote to our community about changing the number of children we welcome into Reception each year to 30 for September 2026, 2027 and 2028.

In accordance with the DfE’s 2021 statutory ‘School Admissions Code’ guidance, we must now consult on our admission arrangements for the following seven years.

We would, therefore, like your views on:

  • Henry Hinde School maintaining the current pupil admissions number of 30 children;
  • Henry Hinde School maintaining the oversubscription criteria.

    These are:

    1.) Children who, at the time of admission, are in care of a local authority or are provided with accommodation by the authority (looked after children). Also, children who were previously looked after but ceased to be so because they were adopted or became subject to child arrangements order or a special guardianship order and all previously looked after children, including those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted. A looked-after child is defined in Section 22 of the Children Act 1989. (2)

    2.) Children living in the priority area who have a sibling at Henry Hinde School at the time of admission (3);

    3.) Children living in the priority area;

    4.) Children of a permanent member of staff at Henry Hinde School who has been employed for a period of two years or more at the time of the academic year when the application is made or who fills a demonstrable skills shortage, and who will have a sibling at the academy at the time of admission.

    5.) Children living outside the priority area who have a sibling at the school at the academy at the time of admission;

    6.) Children living outside the priority area who have a sibling at Henry Hinde School;

    7.) Children living outside the priority area.

Above all, our son's happiness was key when choosing a school: he's never been so eager to go to school each morning! Thank you for inspiring him every day.
