Ashlawn Specialist Resourced Provision Consultation

Overview

On Monday 27 April 2026, Ashlawn School commenced a listening period to gather feedback from the school community on proposals to establish a specialist resourced provision. The listening period ran for four weeks and concluded at 17:00 on Tuesday 26 May 2026.

Process

To support the process:

  •  A letter announcing the listening period was distributed to all stakeholders.
  • An online survey form was created. Responses could be submitted anonymously if preferred.
  • A staff meeting was held.
  • Communications were issued throughout the listening period to encourage participation and feedback.

Executive Summary

  • In total, 28 separate responses to the consultation were received.
  • 15 respondents opposed the establishment of a specialist resource provision ,12 where in favour, and 1 respondent did not feel they were able to answer.
  • It should be noted that most responses that opposed the establishment of the SCR arrived in the first few days of the consultation opening. Once staff meetings were held and more information shared, the responses was nearly unanimously positive.
  • Parents of children who may be eligible for a place within the specialist resourced provision were the most supportive group, with 100% expressing support.
