Welcome to TLET Initial Teacher Training (ITT)
Train to be a teacher with us: Our School Direct – Initial Teacher Training programme places trainee teachers in the classroom from day one working alongside experienced teachers to learn the skills of teaching from dedicated subject mentors.

School Experience Programme (SEP)
School Direct courses last a year and result in qualified teacher status (QTS). Moreover, they earn you a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) and/or Masters Degree-level credits in partnership with a university. You’ll train in two schools within our School Partnership Network across Coventry, Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, getting the chance to learn ‘on the job’. You will receive intensive support from experienced teachers and mentors as well as experience in classroom teaching. Our School Direct Trainees often secure a full-time permanent teaching role within our school partnership network.

Bursaries and scholarships
Scholarships and bursaries will be announced by the DfE
later in autumn 2021 and we will publish them as soon as they are announced, last year the amounts were:
A scholarship award of £26,000 is available in Chemistry, Computing, Maths and Physics.
Alternatively, bursaries of £24,000 are available for Chemistry, Computing, Maths and Physics. A bursary of £10,000 is available for Modern Languages, and a bursary of £7,000 is available for Biology. Bursaries are contingent on a candidate being in receipt of a 2:2 degree, or higher.
School to School Support
We support school improvement by working with underperforming maintained schools and academies. Typically these schools are maintained schools judged by Ofsted as ‘Requires Improvement’, or an academy judged as ‘Requires Improvement’ or ‘Inadequate’.
As a Teaching School and National Support School, we have supported a number of local primary and secondary schools which require improvement in specific areas, such as raising standards, reducing performance variation, innovations in leading learning, system leadership development and strategic planning.
Our team includes Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs) who have a proven track record in supporting Senior and Middle Leaders to facilitate school improvement.
